Bailiff's Chambers
Supporting justice, upholding Jersey’s traditions, and celebrating our Island community
The Bailiff’s Chambers play a vital role in Jersey’s judiciary and community. From supporting the Island’s courts in criminal and civil matters, to assisting the Bailiff in his sworn duty to maintain Jersey’s constitutional privileges, our team ensures the smooth running of critical judicial, ceremonial, and administrative functions.
Our work is diverse and impactful, from issuing injunctions and warrants, through to supporting the Bailiff, Sir Timothy John Le Cocq, in the States Assembly. We are crucial in organising a range of key public ceremonies such as the swearing-in of officials before the Royal Court, the Assise d’Heritage, Liberation Day and Remembrance Sunday. We also facilitate community engagements, welcome distinguished visitors, and oversee licensing for public entertainment, liquor, and charity collections.
