Our package

Our package

Working with Jersey Public Service is different, and that extends to our pay and reward package. We offer competitive salaries, a comprehensive pension scheme, a supportive relocation package, and paid parental leave.

Pay+

We believe in recognising and rewarding the hard work and dedication of our people. That’s why we offer a competitive starting salary, providing a strong foundation as you begin your career with us.

Our structured and transparent pay scales support your professional growth, enabling you to progress as you develop your skills and expertise. Additionally, we offer annual pay awards, ensuring your salary reflects your contributions and aligns with the value you bring to our organisation.

Pension schemes+

We provide two pension schemes: the Public Employees’ Pension Scheme (PEPS) for most employees and the Jersey Teachers’ Superannuation Fund (JTSF) for teachers.

Both schemes offer a generous non-contributory pension benefit funded by the organisation, along with the option to enhance your pension by increasing your own contributions.

In addition to the core benefits, our schemes include provisions for ill-health retirement, death-in-service, and pensions for survivors and dependents, ensuring you and your loved ones are supported.

Leave and holidays+

Our employees are entitled to a starting allowance of between 21 to 31 days of paid annual leave per year, depending on your entry level and pay group. This entitlement increases with your length of service, rewarding your commitment and dedication over time.

Our employees are also entitled to the usual 9 days of Bank Holidays per year and have the option to buy up to 10 days’ additional leave, or take unpaid leave if needed.

We believe in the importance of rest and time to recharge, ensuring you can maintain a healthy balance between your work and personal life.

Relocation package+

We understand that relocating to Jersey is a significant decision, and we’re here to make the transition as smooth as possible. That’s why we offer a comprehensive relocation and support package for eligible employees moving to Jersey for a licenced role, designed to take the stress out of your move.

Our support may include practical assistance and advice, tailored to your needs, and access to landing accommodation to help you settle in quickly. We’re committed to providing the guidance and resources you need to make Jersey feel like home.

Parental leave+

We value family life. That’s why we offer 20 weeks of paid parental leave, which can be taken flexibly over a two-year period, giving you the time you need to bond with your child. You also have the option to take an additional 32 weeks of unpaid parental leave.

If both parents work with us, you can transfer up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave between each other, tailoring the support to suit your family’s needs.

We also offer special leave which allows you to manage certain unforeseen circumstances, ensuring you have the time and space to address life’s unexpected challenges.

Discounts and offers+

We’ve partnered with a range of organisations to bring our employees exclusive discounts on goods and services. From health and fitness subscriptions to travel and transport, our benefits are designed to enhance your lifestyle and save you money.

This includes our bus scheme, managed by Liberty Bus, which offers savings on the cost of an annual bus pass, making your commute more affordable and convenient. Take advantage of these perks, tailored to support your well-being and everyday needs.

Career breaks+

We know that life is about more than just work, and sometimes you need the space to focus on personal goals or explore new opportunities. That’s why, after a certain length of service, we offer our employees the chance to take a career break.

Our career breaks range from a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 12 months, providing you with the flexibility to pursue what’s important to you - whether that’s spending time with loved ones, traveling, studying, volunteering, or simply taking a well-earned rest.

Wellbeing support+

Our 24/7 confidential employee assistance scheme offers guidance whenever you need it, and our network of trained mental health colleague supporters are ready to listen and provide assistance. Meanwhile, our occupational health services provide professional support to help you maintain your wellbeing.

For those volunteering with Jersey Overseas Aid, we provide additional paid leave, recognising the incredible impact these projects have made globally. We’re proud to support our employees in creating meaningful change.

Sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability

As an organisation we’re taking active steps to reduce our carbon emissions in line with the Island’s commitments under the Carbon Neutral Roadmap.

In the Jersey Public Service we are committed to reducing our carbon impact and investing in the environmental wellbeing of both current and future generations.

We’re moving forward with initial measures to deliver immediate carbon reductions, while also investing in long-term solutions to achieve the transition to net-zero by 2050.
