The Office of the Lieutenant-Governor is crucial to Jersey’s connection to the Crown, providing vital executive and administrative support for the Lieutenant-Governor, allowing them to fulfil their unique and prestigious role.
As His Majesty’s personal representative and impartial adviser in Jersey, the Lieutenant-Governor, Vice Admiral Jeremy Kyd CBE, serves as the official channel of communication between His Majesty’s Government and the Island Authorities.
This role carries significant representational, ceremonial, and social responsibilities, from hosting Royal and VIP visits to promoting community and charitable activities. The Lieutenant-Governor also oversees key matters in relation to British citizenship, the issuing of passports, the awarding of honours, and the administration of the Crown Estate in Jersey.

Our Lieutenant-Governor
The Lieutenant-Governor is appointed by His Majesty The King for a five-year term.
Vice Admiral Jeremy Kyd CBE is Jersey's current Lieutenant Governor and assumed office in October 2022.
His Excellency served as an Officer in the Royal Navy for 37 years during which he has held a number of senior appointments.
