You’ll carry out research into complex matters, prepare high-quality briefings, and support decision-making at the most senior level. You’ll also play a central role in governance processes, ensuring agendas, papers, and actions are managed efficiently, and that leadership remains informed of key political, media, and public issues.
Job Purpose
What You’ll Do
- Provide high-quality administrative support to senior leaders, enabling them to effectively discharge their duties.
- Undertake in-depth research into complex issues, producing analysis and insights that strengthen decision-making.
- Support governance processes by organising, coordinating, and following up on governance meetings, ensuring agendas, papers, and action tracking are delivered accurately and on time.
- Prepare draft responses to stakeholders, support correspondence, and maintain accurate records of meetings and actions.
- Promote awareness of relevant political, media, and public issues, supporting transparency and responsiveness.
- Contribute to service improvements by reviewing processes and ensuring standards, guidelines, and procedures are consistently applied.
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for someone who combines excellent organisational skills with political awareness and analytical capability. You will bring:
- A degree and/or professional qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. business studies, politics).
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced, sensitive environment.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex issues and present information clearly.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively as part of a small team.
- IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- The initiative and confidence to make sound decisions in complex or unprecedented situations.
- An eye for detail, the ability to prioritise under pressure, and a calm, professional approach.
Why Join Us?
At the Government of Jersey, you’ll be part of an organisation where your contribution is valued, and your voice matters. You’ll work in a collaborative and supportive environment, where opportunities for growth and development are built into every role. Most importantly, you’ll be making a tangible impact on a programme that will benefit the island community for generations to come.
