Job Overview

Mechanical Apprentice within the Government of Jersey’s Infrastructure & Environment (I&E) Department will carry out Routine maintenance on items of plant within government assets such as pumping stations, sewage treatment works, sports facilities, car parks, solid waste, abattoir and energy recovery facility and all I&E assets across the island. 

The apprentice under supervision by an Engineers to develop their skills in all aspects of welding/fabrication process making, manufacturing, repairing components from materials like steel /stainless steel / aluminium/alloys.

Machining skills will be gained  lath, milling machine example of materials used steel/ bronze /brass/ stainless steel/ aluminium.

Using UpToDate equipment such as press brakes, bandsaws, plasma, oxygen and acetylene welding sets, guillotine, powered rollers etc 

The role-holder will develop competence across mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. 

The apprentice will be required to attend college and complete the course over there 4-year apprenticeship.

1pm – 2pm (students and school leavers) 

2:30pm – 3:30pm (students and school leavers) 

4:30pm – 5:30pm (career changers)
