Job Overview
Le Rocquier School requires an Assistant Caretaker to join our site team.
The sucessful applicant will join a friendly team, work within and maintain modern education facilities and join a school staff of over 100 dedicated professionals that are focused on delivering high quality educational experiences. The Site Team is part of a large team of staff that support Le Rocquier students on thier learning journey.
We are looking for someone that is practically minded with good maintenance skills and focuses on delivering a quality maintence service accross the indoor and outdoor areas of our school.
The post is permanent, pensionable and we can discuss reduced weeks if time off in the school holidays is prefered. The working week is Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week. This will involve working either early 07:00am starts or late shifts starting at 12:00pm. Flexibility around cover for colleagues on anual leave is also required.

Job Purpose
Work within the Site Team to maintain and develop the school site internally and externally throughout the year.
Responsible for maintaining the school grounds, under the direction of the Site Manager.
Responsible for the security of the school premises and its contents when the Caretaker and/or Site Manager are not in attendance.
To assist with the organising of repairs and repairing damage or faults and carrying out minor maintenance construction, including carpentry.
To assist in the supervision and deployment of staff and the oversight of any contractors/tradesmen on the school premises and to call out any engineer/tradesman when incidents occur and liaise with them in the absence of the Caretaker and/or Site Manager.
To assist members of the community who are attending the school site for lettings and other purposes whilst on duty.
To ensure the site is secure, clean and tidy and safe for school use.
To assist in the monitoring and effectiveness of the cleaning contractor.
Person specification
Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
Clean driving licience for a school mini bus or the commitment to achieve this within year 1.
Experience
Ability to work with various different types of machinery and gardening equipment.
Experience in working with security and working with different systems.
Understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Law and be willing to take on further training in Health and Safety.
Clean driving licence is essential. A trailer licence would be an advantage.
Personal Attributes
Posseses experience of maintaiing buildings, sites and Health & Satey related to tools and personal working practices.
A good team member and able to work on own
Ability to maintain a good working relationship with everyone and work with teachers, support staff, parents, students, outside tradesmen and community users of the school.
Competent in dealing with the general public.
Willingness to undertake First Aid at Work training.
