Job Overview

 

The Criminal Division has an exciting opportunity to join the criminal courts team at the Law Officers' Department as an assistant legal adviser. The criminal courts team consists of Crown Advocates, Legal Advisers, Assistant Legal Advisers and administrators who are responsible for prosecuting all criminal and regulatory matters in the Magistrate’s Court, Youth Court, Royal Court, and Court of Appeal. The role involves the supporting the legal team in the delivery of timely legal advice and prosecutions. The successful applicant will have the ability to assimilate information quickly, carry out thorough legal research and present a point of view clearly, convincingly, and persuasively through rational argument to legal advisers and the Law Officers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the Criminal Division.

 

The work will be interesting, challenging and varied, working with different government agencies both in Jersey and occasionally internationally. You will have the support of a friendly, inclusive, and highly professional team at the Law Officers’ Department, under the leadership of the Attorney General for Jersey.
