An exciting, busy and varied role has arisen in the Tax Governance Team within Revenue Jersey. This role supports the Assistant Comptroller – Head of Operations and also provides proactive, effective and efficient administrative and project support to all teams within Revenue Jersey in areas such as Training, Finance, Vetting, Recruitment and Performance. The role would be ideal for an organised, approachable, empathetic person with a positive mindset and “can do” attitude.

Job Purpose

 

To provide proactive, effective and efficient administrative and project support to the department in order to support the effective collection of Revenue.

 

Job Specific Outcomes 1 of 2

  1. Provide support to the Assistant Comptroller – Head of Operations and other members of Revenue Jersey Senior Leadership Team in the areas of business, performance and visual management and other corporate initiatives. Prepare, where appropriate, final version reports and correspondence drafted by the Assistant Comptroller – Head of Operations and other members of Revenue Jersey Senior Leadership Team where appropriate.

 

  1. Support projects within the areas of Transformation, Operations and the Senior Leadership team by coordination, planning and control of projects. Ensure agreed project management methods, standards and processes are maintained in order to support the delivery of departmental projects.

 

  1. Support the Assistant Comptroller – Head of Operations and other Senior Leaders with staffing matters across all operational areas of Revenue Jersey. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and that any matters are dealt with in a timely manner.

  1. Provide administrative assistance in the areas of recruitment, absence and performance to all managers and team leaders within Revenue Jersey.

 

  1. Organise travel and accommodation, courses and conferences of members of Revenue Jersey staff as required.  Book local, UK and international conferences/courses for Revenue Jersey staff using the preferred online travel provider (HRG). Ensure that any expense collection is undertaken in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with the Government of Jersey’s Public Finance Manual.

 

  1. Order goods and services via the Government of Jersey’s ordering system (Connect Ariba) and raise requisitions and receipt orders in a timely manner and in accordance with the Government of Jersey’s Public Finance Manual.

 

  1. Provide executive support to the Comptroller, Deputy Comptroller and Assistant Comptroller (International) of Revenue, when required, including acting as the first point of contact for all those wishing to meet with or speak to with the Comptroller, Deputy Comptroller and Assistant Comptroller (International) of Revenue.

Qualifications

 

Essential 

 

Educated to at least A level standard.

 

NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration.

 

Qualified in application of Lean tools and techniques to Yellow belt level (or willingness to work towards).

 

Knowledge

 

Essential 

 

The ability to maintain confidentiality and political awareness is essential.

 

Have a sound understanding of financial administration e.g. raising purchase orders, reconciling accounts and processing invoices.

 

 

Desirable

 

Knowledge and understanding of government functions is required together with an understanding of Government of Jersey processes and procedures.

 

 

 

Technical Work Based Skills

 

Essentials

 

Excellent IT skills including the ability to use PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

 

Must have an eye for detail, the ability to problem solve, to process work with accuracy and prioritise tasks

Ability to apply sound judgement and use of initiative to solve problems that arise and determine what they can authorise on their own and what needs to be passed on to ensure the smooth running of service delivery.

Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines.

 

The job holder may be required to be vetted to Security Clearance (SC) level and may in due course require Developed Vetting (DV) and must be prepared to undertake that process.

 

Must be prepared to work flexibly in all areas of Revenue Jersey appropriate to the grade and role.
