Join the Award-Winning Jersey Heart Team

Are you looking for an administrative role where you can truly make a difference in cardiac care? Join the award-winning Jersey Heart Team as our Business Support Officer and become an integral part of a service that's transforming cardiovascular care in Jersey.

About the Jersey Heart Team

The Jersey Heart Team was selected as Health and Community Services Team of the Year in 2023 and was shortlisted as a finalist for the British Medical Journal Cardiology Team of the Year award. The team has received multiple accolades, including recognition from the Royal College of Nursing when Sister Angela Hall was selected as Nurse of the Year. Led by Consultants Dr Andrew Mitchell and Dr Pierre Le Page, we provide comprehensive cardiac care whilst maintaining an active research programme.

Our team has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and participates in international clinical trials. We've helped establish Jersey as having some of the lowest premature cardiac death rates in the British Isles through our focus on prevention and early intervention.

The Role

As our Business Support Officer, you'll provide essential administrative support to a multidisciplinary team of consultants, specialist nurses, clinical physiologists, and research fellows. This isn't just data entry - you'll be contributing to a service that manages everything from urgent cardiac emergencies to pioneering preventive cardiology programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to our multidisciplinary team of doctors and specialist nurses
  • Maintain and analyse clinical databases to support service improvement and patient care
  • Coordinate communication between primary care, our department, and UK tertiary centres
  • Process and coordinate incoming referrals, helping to ensure appropriate triage and allocation to specialist clinics has been completed
  • Support audit and quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist with the coordination of our research activities, with potential opportunities to expand this aspect of the role

What Makes This Role Special:

  • Research Opportunities: The Jersey Heart Team has an active research programme with over 25 published papers and participation in international clinical trials. There's potential to develop your role to include formal research support as you grow with the team
  • Career Development: Join a team that actively supports professional growth - several of our team members have won national awards for innovation and excellence
  • Meaningful Impact: Your work directly supports a service that has helped achieve some of the lowest premature cardiac death rates in the British Isles
  • Dynamic Environment: Work with cutting-edge technology including AI-assisted diagnostics, digital health platforms, and advanced cardiac imaging

What We're Looking For: A motivated, organised individual with excellent attention to detail and strong IT skills. While experience in healthcare administration is valuable, we're more interested in finding someone who shares our passion for excellence and innovation in cardiac care. Medical terminology knowledge would be advantageous but full training will be provided.

Hours: 8 hours per week (initially)
