Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our small but dedicated team of Clinical Coders at Jersey General Hospital.
Clinical Coders use their skills, knowledge and experience to assign codes to inpatient admissions in a hospital setting. This enables the main condition being treated or investigated and any other relevant information to be captured for statistical analysis.
This is a linked grade role that enables progression, providing opportunity to build and grow a career. We are looking for applicants who have excellent IT and organisational skills. Previous experience using medical terminology and a knowledge of anatomy and physiology would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.

Job Purpose
Clinical Coders translate clinical diagnoses, symptoms and procedures recorded in paper and digital medical records into universally recognised data formats in accordance with agreed standards. This coded data is essential to meeting Regulatory standards and enabling strategic level change for the delivery of healthcare in Jersey across public, private, and third sector organisations. This is a linked grade role that enables progression from CS06 to CS07 after successful completion of the National Clinical Coding Qualification and a minimum of 2 years’ experience demonstrating successful application of coding within team KPIs.

Qualifications
Good educational standard to A-Level (Grade A-C) standard or equivalent in Science, Maths or English. Accredited Clinical Coding (ACC) qualification.
Genral Skills / Attributes
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Experience working with highly confidential and sensitive material. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to brief various stakeholders in a simplified, comprehendible way that enables action. The ability to work on own initiative whilst also achieving results as part of a team.
Experience
Experience working in a healthcare related environment Experience working with complex data and systems. Experience of computer systems and keyboard skills.
