To provide specialist psychological expertise across the rehabilitation pathway, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs and complex emotional needs to achieve recovery, emotional wellbeing, and greater independence. The post holder will contribute to the delivery of psychologically informed care through assessment, formulation, intervention, consultation, and staff support, working closely with residents, multidisciplinary teams, and external partners.

The role will promote trauma-informed and person-centred approaches, ensuring psychological understanding is embedded within all aspects of care and rehabilitation. The post holder will support the development of therapeutic environments, enhance staff skills through training and reflective practice, and contribute to the assessment and management of complex clinical presentations and risk.

Working across rehabilitation pathway, the Clinical Psychologist will play a key role in improving outcomes for individuals by promoting psychological wellbeing, resilience, recovery, and meaningful community integration, while contributing to service development, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.

To provide highly specialist psychological services across the rehabilitation pathway for individuals with complex mental health needs and complex emotional needs. As a Clinical Psychologist, the post holder will deliver psychological assessment, formulation, evidence-based interventions, and risk management, enabling individuals to achieve recovery, improve emotional wellbeing, and maximise their independence and quality of life.

Working as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Psychologist will provide clinical leadership in the development of psychologically informed and trauma-informed care. The role includes offering consultation, supervision, training, and reflective practice to staff, ensuring that psychological understanding is embedded within service delivery and informs care planning, risk management, and rehabilitation approaches.

The post holder will work collaboratively with service users, families, carers, and partner agencies, supporting complex clinical decision-making and contributing to positive outcomes across the rehabilitation pathway. They will also play a key role in service development, clinical governance, outcome evaluation, and the promotion of evidence-based practice to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained.

The Clinical Psychologist will practise in accordance with all relevant legislation, professional standards, ethical frameworks, and organisational policies, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based psychological services.

The post holder will undertake psychological assessments, formulation, intervention, and risk assessment in line with professional and legal requirements, contributing to the protection, wellbeing, and recovery of individuals with complex mental health and emotional needs. They will support safeguarding processes, identify and respond to risks of harm, and contribute to the development and review of risk management plans.

The Clinical Psychologist will ensure their practice complies with the Mental Health (Jersey) Law 2016 and the Capacity and Self-Determination (Jersey) Law 2016, including contributing to assessments, supporting decision-making, and ensuring that care is delivered in the least restrictive manner possible. 

The post holder will maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records, prepare psychological reports as required, and contribute expert psychological opinion to multidisciplinary reviews, safeguarding processes, and statutory meetings. They will ensure that all professional activities are undertaken in accordance with relevant professional body guidance, clinical governance requirements, and service standards.

The Clinical Psychologist will also contribute to service evaluation, audit, research, and quality improvement activities, supporting the organisation's commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality care across the rehabilitation pathway.

Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsych) or equivalent professional qualification recognised for practice as a Clinical Psychologist.

 

Registration with the relevant professional regulatory body and eligibility to practise as a Clinical Psychologist in Jersey.

 

Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

 

Training and experience in psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for individuals with complex mental health needs.

 

Highly developed knowledge of psychological theories, models, and evidence-based interventions relevant to complex mental health needs and complex emotional needs.

Specialist knowledge of psychological assessment, formulation, treatment planning, and outcome evaluation.In-depth understanding of trauma, attachment, personality difficulties, emotional dysregulation, self-harm, and their impact on functioning and recovery.

Knowledge of a range of therapeutic approaches and their application within rehabilitation settings, including CBT, DBT, CFT, ACT, and other evidence-based interventions.

Understanding of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centred models of care.

Knowledge of risk assessment, risk management, and safeguarding principles in relation to vulnerable adults.

Understanding of the psychological, social, environmental, and systemic factors that influence mental health and recovery.Knowledge of multidisciplinary working and the contribution of psychological services within integrated care pathways.

Understanding of clinical governance, professional ethics, confidentiality, information sharing, and record-keeping requirements.

Knowledge of relevant Jersey legislation, including the Mental Health (Jersey) Law 2016 and the Capacity and Self-Determination (Jersey) Law 2016.

Knowledge of research methodologies, service evaluation, audit, and the application of evidence-based practice.

Experience of undertaking and contributing to risk assessment and risk management in complex clinical settings.

Experience of delivering individual and group psychological interventions.
