Job Overview

As a Digital Forensic Technician, you will work within the States of Jersey Police’s Digital Forensics Unit supporting in the identification, preservation, extraction, and analysis of digital evidence for criminal investigations, internal inquiries, and legal proceedings. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong technical knowledge of digital systems, and the ability to work methodically while maintaining the integrity of evidence.

 

Digital Forensic Technicians examine a wide range of digital devices, including but not limited to computers, mobile phones, storage media and CCTV, to recover data that may have been hidden, deleted, encrypted, or otherwise manipulated. You will follow forensic procedures and maintain contemporaneous notes to ensure evidence is admissible in court.

 

In addition to technical work, the role involves preparing detailed reports, presenting findings to investigators, and potentially giving evidence in court. You will work closely with investigative teams, law enforcement personnel, and other digital specialists to support the wider investigative strategy.

 

This role suits someone who is analytical, organised, discreet, and able to work with sensitive information in a secure and confidential manner.
