We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic and highly organised Education Attendance & Welfare Officer to join our student support team, working across Jersey College for Girls and Jersey College Preparatory School.

In this crucial, school based pastoral role you will bridge the gap between home and school to identify and remove barriers to learning.  You will work closely with children, families, and partner agencies to manage punctual school attendance and protect child welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

Attendance Management: Monitor daily attendance, investigate unexcused absences, and implement robust strategies to improve whole-school attendance metrics.

Welfare Support: Provide direct pastoral support and guidance to students, referring families to external agencies where necessary.

Safeguarding: Work closely with the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to monitor vulnerable students and ensure compliance with all Jersey child protection policies.

Parental Engagement: Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers to address persistent absenteeism collaboratively.

The Ideal Candidate: Proven experience in education, social work, youth work, or a similar pastoral environment. A thorough understanding of child protection legislation and safeguarding procedures. Superb communication and negotiation skills, with the resilience to navigate challenging family dynamics. A commitment to the values, ethos, and inclusive culture of Jersey College for Girls.
