Job Overview

As an Ambulance and Fire Controller, you will be at the heart of Jersey’s emergency response, coordinating critical resources and providing essential support to frontline ambulance crews and fire officers. Working from the Emergency Services Control Centre (ESCC), you’ll be the first point of contact for 999 calls and urgent service requests - where every second counts.

This is a fast-paced, high-pressure role that requires someone who can remain calm, think clearly, and act decisively, even in the most difficult and emotional situations. From providing immediate triage using structured call-taking protocols to dispatching emergency crews and monitoring their safety, your actions directly impact lives and public safety.

You’ll need to be resilient, adaptable, and a strong team player - able to multitask across multiple systems, channels, and priorities. Whether it’s a life-threatening medical emergency or a large-scale fire response, you’ll be relied upon to manage the situation with professionalism, accuracy, and urgency.

You will be part of a 24/7 emergency control rota, working 12-hour shifts on a rotating pattern of days and nights, including weekends and public holidays.
