Job Overview

 

Following internal progression, a rare opportunity has become available to work at the heart of Island life supporting the work of the Deputy Bailiff of Jersey in the Bailiff’s Chambers. The wide-ranging and varied work of the Department will bring the post holder into contact with a very broad and diverse range of people and situations which will often require exercising a degree of discretion, confidence and initiative.

 

The successful candidate should ideally possess the following skills –

 

  • the ability to prioritise and organise.
  • a high level of accuracy and a methodical approach to the working environment.
  • excellent keyboard skills, audiotyping and copy-typing ability and use of IT.
  • a pleasant telephone manner, ability to communicate and proven interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • the ability to respect confidentiality and exercise discretion and diplomacy.
  • the ability to work effectively, at times under pressure, and be a team player.
  • knowledge of the Island and its administration.
  • experience in a legal environment.

  • Civil Service Grade 8 salary (£49,070.86- £55,626.26) based on a 37-hour week.
