Job Overview

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable and motivated HR professional to assist with the development, review and implementation of our people policies, procedures and guidance across the organisation.

This role is critical in ensuring our people policies are legally compliant, aligned to best practice, and support consistent, effective people management. Working closely with HR colleagues in People Services, managers, trade unions, legal advisers and other stakeholders, you will translate complex legislation and organisational requirements into clear, practical and accessible policies, procedures and guidance.

You will monitor changes in employment legislation and best practice, manage policy reviews, lead consultation processes, and support the effective communication and implementation of the people policies across the organisation.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a team member who can demonstrate:

  • Degree level qualification, CIPD accreditation, or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Experience developing, reviewing and implementing people policies, procedures and guidance
  • Good understanding of employment and discrimination legislation and HR best practice
  • Experience in working in HR, employee relations, legal, compliance or a similar business environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to turn complex information and feedback from various sources into clear, practical guidance
  • Excellent analytical, research, drafting and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain attention to detail and work collaboratively
  • Experience of consultation with other teams in People Services, managers, staff representatives and/or trade unions
  • Confident using digital systems and technology

The role will involve

  • Creating and revising people policies, procedures and toolkits
  • Liaising with the Digital Services team to get updated policies added onto Gov.je and MyStates (and ensuring outdated versions are removed)
  • Working with the various stakeholders to add content onto the People Services Webpages
  • Producing template forms and letters to be included in Toolkits, including liaising with the digital services teams in relation to these becoming automated
  • Ensuring all policies align with current Employment and Discrimination legislation, our values and the codes of practice
  • Engaging with internal teams within people services, the Law Officer’s Department, employee networks and the unions to gather input and ensure consistency
  • Ensuring all documentation is written in accessible, neutral and user-friendly language

This is an excellent opportunity to shape the organisation's people policies and make a real impact on employee experience, organisational culture and compliance. This role is incredibly broad and varied as it gives exposure to all of the terms and conditions of the different pay groups and various stakeholders across the organisation. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across HR and the wider organisation to ensure policies are readily accessible, practical, effective and support our strategic objectives.
