Job Overview
The Health and Safety Inspectorate is the independent regulator for work-related health and safety in the Island. Our role is to promote effective risk management via advice, guidance and enforcement to ensure public and worker protection. We do this through effective administration and enforcement of the Health and Safety at Work (Jersey) Law 1989 and subordinate legislation.
We require a qualified Inspector or Trainee Inspector to join our team.
As an Inspector, no two-days are the same. Health and Safety at Work legislation applies to all working activities and workplaces in the island, in both the public and private sectors, including construction sites, public events, workshops, farms, retail premises, hospitals, garages and major hazard sites.
You will need to have an Honours degree in any discipline, or equivalent qualification, in order to be considered for the post.
Trainees will be given full training by the Inspectorate and the GB Health & Safety Executive over a three-year period. During this time you will be subject to six monthly increments to salary that take you to the Inspector grade at the end of the training.
