Job Overview
We are a forward thinking organisation and are looking to recruit a theatre health care assistant who is highly motivated and open to change. Our theatres cover a wide range of specialities including General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery elective and Trauma, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Urology, ENT & Max Fax, Vascular, Ophthalmic, Dental including. We also provide 24 hour emergency cover for the island and its residents. The role will support the theatre practitioner and surgeon during surgery, organisation of equipment, stock control and contributing to safety process within the theatre environment. The successful candidate will be accountable, expected to work within a multi-professional team, liaising with and providing high quality care for patients. Some rotation and flexibility will be required to meet service needs. The post holder will be expected to participate in internal rotation into theatres, weekends, nights and unsocial hours.

Job Purpose
To promote health and independence by supporting patients/clients with activities of daily living in order to meet planned care goals.
Key Accountabilities
- The post holder will contribute and participate in care delivery for specified individual patients or patient groups, planning and organising a range of patient activities taking into account physical and social needs of the patients.
- The post holder will demonstrate that activities of daily living are carried out in accordance with the individual’s care plan and the standards of care for clinical area.
- The post holder will demonstrate understanding of and compliance with all HSSD Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures at all times.
- The post holder takes responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of all children, adults and/or families within their care and contact. He/she shall be aware of and comply with all safeguarding polices and procedures
- The post holder will maintain a vocational QCF Portfolio which demonstrates the continuing acquisition of skills, knowledge, attitudes, understanding and achievement.
Team Working
The postholder will function effectively as a member of the nursing team and contribute to the achievement of team goals
Training & Development
The post holder will seek opportunities to develop knowledge and skills and will participate constructively in the Performance Review and Appraisal process.
Knowledge
• Experience in health care setting
