Job Overview
Orchard Ward provides assessment, treatment and therapeutic interventions for adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties. The Health Care Assistant works alongside nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers and other professionals to deliver compassionate, recovery-focused care.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in Jersey or be eligible to obtain the necessary permissions prior to commencing employment. Appointment to this post is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including references, occupational health clearance, identity verification, professional registration (where applicable), and an enhanced DBS check.

Job Purpose
The post holder will:
- Comply with all relevant legislation, professional standards, Health and Social Care Jersey policies and procedures, and Government of Jersey requirements applicable to the role.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all patients, recognising and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and following organisational safeguarding procedures at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality and manage information in accordance with data protection legislation, information governance requirements and organisational policies.
- Demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring all patients, carers and colleagues are treated with dignity, fairness and respect.
- Comply with all health and safety requirements, taking reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, procedures and best practice standards.
- Participate in mandatory training and maintain competencies required for safe and effective practice.
- Report incidents, accidents, near misses and concerns in accordance with organisational policy.
- Work within the boundaries of their competence and seek support, supervision and guidance when required.
- Support the principles of recovery-focused, person-centred care and promote the rights, wellbeing and independence of patients.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a safe, therapeutic and respectful environment for patients, visitors and staff.
- Act in accordance with the Health and Social Care Jersey values and the standards expected of Healthcare assistants.
