Job Overview

Applications are invited for an exciting unique opportunity to work at the heart of Island life supporting the work of the Lieutenant-Governor.  We are seeking to recruit a self-motivated Housekeeper who can assist in the daily running and organisation of a busy household and hospitality support for events hosted at Government House.

 

We host a wide cross-section of important visitors to the Island including members of the Royal Family, senior members of the armed services, diplomats and politicians, and other prominent people.  We also run a variety of events including ceremonial occasions and receptions in support of charitable organisations.

 

The successful candidate will be experienced in domestic service, hard-working, conscientious, and must be well presented and a good communicator who will be content to work flexible and at times unsociable hours. The post is a permanent contract and is pensionable.

Job Purpose

To provide laundry, cleaning, waiting and other domestic services at the direction of the Head Housekeeper at Government House. The Housekeeper is a key person in the domestic routine of the house. They are a member of the Housekeeping Team consisting of the Head Housekeeper, 2 Housekeepers and the Chef.

Job Specific Outcomes

Draw the attention of the Head Housekeeper to any matter affecting the smooth running and security of Government House. Serve at table and at functions and receptions in Government House and its grounds.

 

Cleaning of the house (public rooms, corridors, bedrooms, bathrooms, WCs, offices and other accommodation).

 

Laundry and ironing. Report all damage, breakages, losses and unserviceable items to the Head Housekeeper. Undertake such tasks and duties as may from time to time be allocated by the Lieutenant Governor, his/her spouse/partner or the Chief of Staff.
