Job Overview
Haute Vallee School is seeking to appoint a dynamic ICT Technician to work at the forefront of supporting students and staff in the School in all things ICT related. Applicants should have excellent time-management, communication and ICT skills and be able to work in a busy, vibrant secondary school. They should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with students and staff.
The successful applicant will be well organised, flexible, friendly and be able to work to changing priorities.
Ideally, applicants will have recent experience of working in an ICT support area with up to date knowledge of current technology and experience of the various systems used within a School environment would be an added advantage.

Job Purpose
Under the instruction/guidance of the ICT Manager, provide a comprehensive support service to all users of Information Technology, assist in the in-house development of Information and Communication Technology Systems and Resources, and provide a general support service for Audio Visual Technology use throughout the School.
This will include ensuring all computer and related equipment is working properly, acting as the first line of support for all hardware and software faults, to support the ICT Manager in troubleshooting the networks and to install hardware and software on workstations and servers.
Principal Accountabilities
- Contribute to the design and specification of school wired and wireless networks, workstation and mobile device requirements, ensuring all issues are addressed to provide a secure and stable network system.
- Assist in managing and monitoring the school wired and wireless networks to support user requirements.
- Provide technical support in response to both hardware (wired and wireless) and software failures. Promptly diagnose and repair faults to ensure equipment is maintained in a serviceable condition and liaise with external technical support providers when necessary.
- Effectively install computers and software on to both school wired and wireless networks and assist teaching staff with the instruction of students using Information and Communication Technology.
- Operate a comprehensive user support service, rectifying user software and hardware problems quickly, for users to gain a high level of efficiency from the system and minimise user down time.
- Report on the system as requested by the Technical ICT Manager and school management, ensuring that information is accurate and detailed for key management actions within the wired and the wireless network and to maintain the hardware and software inventory, ensuring that all equipment and software owned by the school is accounted and accurate records are maintained at all times.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience in supporting the management of a complex network with multiple users.
- Practical experience in Windows based software is essential, together with good keyboard skills.
- An industry recognised qualification in computer support is desirable.
- Familiarity and skill in using and maintaining a range of audio and video equipment.
- The ability to communicate computer and audio visual jargon in a user friendly language and be creative in system design.
- The ability to multi-task and prioritise in a busy and demanding school environment and meet critical time targets.
- High level of emotional intelligence in dealing with a demanding and wide range of social interactions.
- A willingness to undertake further training as required is essential, possibly including UK based courses.
- Ability to relate well to children and adults.
- Work constructively and flexibly as part of a team, understanding school roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
- Ability to identify own training and development needs and cooperate with the means to address these.
- The ability to work flexibly within a highly motivated team.
