Jersey College for Girls are looking to recruit an IT Technician. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive support service for all users of Technology throughout the college. This will include ensuring that all computer and related equipment is working properly, to act as the first line of support for all hardware and software faults, to install hardware and software on workstations. You will be expected to provide support to both students and staff with the use of Office 365 and other software used by the College. We support both Windows and Apple devices so experience with both is desirable but not essential.

This role is a term time only position with annual salary paid pro rata for weeks actually worked.
Job Purpose
To provide a comprehensive support service to all users of Information Technology, assist in the in-house development of Information and Communication Technology Systems and Resources, and provide a general support service for Audio Visual Technology use throughout the college. This will include ensuring that all computer and related equipment is working properly, to act as the first line of support for all hardware and software faults, to troubleshoot the networks, and to install hardware and software on workstations and servers.
Principal Accountabilities 1 of 2
- Liaise with the Technical IT Manager to solve network problems and install/configure new software applications, drivers and software upgrades as required.
- Support with all network and work station installations, all associated cabling, hubs and network points and proxy servers, network infrastructure, College owned laptops and manage all work of contracted engineers on site, to ensure a full IT service is provided.
- Assist with the recommendation and negotiation with suppliers for new hardware and software to support the curriculum and administrative information systems within the school.
- Support the regular maintenance programme for all College owned systems and advise Technical ICT Manager on a rolling replacement programme and ensure that equipment and software is recorded in the asset register.
- Act as the first line of support for all hardware and software faults.
- Assist in the management and creation of student and staff logins to various platforms.
- Assist staff at all levels throughout the school in the introduction and development of highly specialised technical computer applications and general information technology applications.

8. Assist in the training of students and personnel at all levels throughout the school in new skills required relating to computer technology, safety and general working practices.
9. In addition to the above the post holder will also carry out all reasonable requests of the Principal or Technical ICT Manager.
10. Support online platforms and any technology used within the College.
11. Assist in Managing Student and staff devices within the College’s Mobile Device Management Solutions.
12. Support the running of College Printers
13. Support College events with AV requirements

An ideal candidate for this post will have:
- An industry-recognised qualification in computer support is desirable but not essential.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- The ability to multi-task and prioritise in a busy and demanding school environment and meet critical time targets.
- High level of emotional intelligence in dealing with a demanding and wide range of social interactions and enthusiasm for working with students and teachers sympathetically and effectively to develop their expertise.
- A willingness to undertake further training as required is essential.
- A high degree of personal initiative.
