Job Overview
MDU Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical Day Unit (MDU). The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care whilst ensuring safe administration and monitoring of intravenous therapies.
Essential Criteria
- Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in a general nursing setting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of anaphylaxis management and emergency escalation pathways.
- Sound understanding of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) principles, including Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT).
- Competent in the use of NEWS2 and recognition of clinical deterioration, with appropriate escalation of concerns.
- Knowledge of clinical governance, documentation standards, and incident reporting processes.
- Trained and actively practising cannulation and venepuncture.
- Competent in intravenous medication administration and monitoring.
- Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation of infusion activities and patient care.
- Able to respond effectively to clinical emergencies within scope of practice and escalate appropriately to senior clinicians.
- Proficient in the use of electronic patient record systems, including Maxims and EPMA.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
