Key Responsibilities
In-Class Support
Provide targeted support to students with special educational needs or learning difficulties during lessons.
Help adapt learning materials and strategies to ensure accessibility and understanding.
Work collaboratively with teachers to support differentiated learning activities.
Promote independence and confidence among students.
Intervention and Small Group Support
Deliver or support intervention programmes focusing on literacy, numeracy, social skills, or other specific learning needs.
Track and report on student progress within intervention groups.
Support with the planning and preparation of intervention resources.
Emotional and Pastoral Support
Build positive, supportive relationships with students who require emotional and behavioural support.
Work alongside pastoral and SEN staff to monitor student wellbeing.
Support students in developing emotional regulation and resilience.
General Duties
Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Follow school safeguarding policies and procedures diligently.
Support school events, trips, and activities as required.
Person Specification
Essential:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
Experience working with students, particularly those with SEN or additional needs.
Understanding of safeguarding, SEND Code of Practice, and child development.
