Job Overview

Prepare session plans and deliver group fitness, aquatic or learn to swim classes, supervising safe activity, addressing any issues that emerge with technique whilst engaging with the group in a professional, but fun and energetic manner. 

This includes the effective delivery of programmes to children, and interaction with parents and teachers. Deliver excellent customer service by proactively interacting with members of the public using facilities to encourage good health and wellness behaviours. 

 

To deliver efficient and professional services according to the operational requirements and the specific knowledge and skills necessary, to optimise health and safety and customer experience. Leisure Assistants at the Higher level, who will be gym instructors and lifeguards possessing additional technical knowledge and skills where there will be required to deliver a range of specialist services; Group Fitness Instructor services; Sports Coaching; Pool Plant Operator services and Swimming Instructor (Swim England).

 

Focussing on providing excellent customer experience to members of the public using the facilities available. Postholders also have responsibilities for the preparation and cleanliness of facilities, undertake ‘front of house’ duties and to contribute to continuous service improvements.

Qualifications

Those qualification are not essential to apply for the position but desirable as we can provide those qualifications to the successful candidate.

  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
  • National Pool Plant Operator (Level 3)
  • Qualified Swimming Teacher (Level 1 or 2)
  • Qualified Group Fitness Instructor (Level 2 or 3)
  • Qualified Gym Instructor (Level 2)
  • Qualified and Accredited Personal Trainer (Level 3) 
  • Specific sport coaching qualification

Knowledge

A good level of fitness / aquatic fitness Have an acceptable level of the English language.

Experience

An individual appointed directly to the job role would be expected to have previous experience matched to the services offered within the facility in which they are working. It would be expected that an appointee would be experienced in working independently.

Familiarity with the multisports environment.
