Job Overview

Jersey Fleet Management are seeking highly motivated and experienced vehicle technicians to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in maintaining and servicing all the Government of Jersey’s Fleet assets.We have positions for both grade 7 Light/ Medium and Grade 8 Multiskilled HGV technicians. A 3-year training plan will be offered to allow progression to grade 8.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that vehicle repairs are carried out to the highest possible standards. You must be flexible enough to adapt to new processes, enhance current skills and develop new as required, participate in training and development activities, EV technology included.The range of transport and plant includes, lightweight petrol/diesel engine cars, vans, groundwork machinery, heavy trucks, specialist vehicles including road sweepers, refuse vehicles, vacuum tankers, lorry mounted cranes, blue light vehicles, and large plant engines.

 

Essential Skills:•Technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician) or proven experience repairing & maintaining vehicles.• Ability to work within guidelines given and to strict deadlines• Ability to actively seek solutions to problems• Excellent customer care skills• Knowledge and experience of inspection methods/processors• Knowledge and experience of statutory vehicle inspection requirements• IT literate with the ability to use a range of packages applicable to the role, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (emails)• Full Jersey driving licence• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written• Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements• Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair.• Ability to utilise/understand diagnostic equipment Desirable Skills.

 

Desirable Skills:• HGV Licence• Forklift truck licence• Relevant training on Crane/Multi-lift equipment• Welding and hot work knowledge/experience• EV training
