Job Overview
Have you ever thought about becoming an On-Call Firefighter? Now’s your chance! We are recruiting both West and HQ On-Call Firefighters to serve our community and help make Jersey safer.
As part of our ongoing expansion and commitment to making Jersey safer, we are creating a Talent Pool for future recruitment opportunities:
- On-Call Firefighters: recruitment planned for January 2027
Joining the Talent Pool gives you the chance to potentially secure a role within 12 months.
On-Call Firefighters
On-Call Firefighters typically have another primary employment but respond to emergencies when alerted via a paging app called Fire Service Rota (FSR). Responsibilities include:
- Being available to respond to incidents 1 in every 4 days in St Helier, or alternate evenings in St Brelade (currently under review).
- Handling a variety of emergencies, similar to full-time Firefighters.
- Gaining valuable skills and earning additional income while supporting the community.
No prior experience is needed. We provide comprehensive training. What matters is enthusiasm, reliability, flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to respond safely and quickly when called. On-call shifts are tailored around your availability, and you may be called out two or three times per week for a few hours at a time.
