Job Overview
The Operative – Road Signs & Markings is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of road signs, line markings, and associated highway infrastructure.
The tasks also involved are, installing Christmas lights, Display lighting, applying high-friction surfacing, and ensuring the integrity of the road signage network for public safety are all maintained to a good standard.
The hours of work is as follows 06:00 to 14.00 Monday to Wednesday - Thursday and Friday 06:00 to 13:00

Job Purpose
To provide a range of duties relating to the maintenance of road traffic signs and road markings including the installation of, and maintenance of display lighting.
We also look after flood lighting, the manufacturer of road signs and other event signs, placing and removal of temporary road signage and installation and removal of Christmas decorations.
Working hours for this role is: 0600 – 1400 Monday to Wednesday 0600 – 1300 Thursday to Friday
Knowledge
The nature of the role requires the operative to have an understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, some are non-routine, which require a base level of theoretical knowledge.
For example operating the sign shop equipment, erecting display and Christmas lighting in new locations requires both basic electrical understanding and knowledge of fixing methods and supports
To have the training and experience to understand the standards required by the Road Traffic Law for road signs and road markings.
Using the computerised and manual equipment in the sign shop to manufacturer, print and assemble road, event, temporary road signs require formal in-house training.
Demonstrable knowledge of site labouring duties such as excavation, construction; signing, guarding and lighting of road works.
Training is required to enable the operative to work at height in mobile access equipment when erecting and maintaining display lighting etc. To work with electrical equipment, as directed by electrical engineers.
To hold appropriate Streetworks qualification for working on the highway
