Job Overview
Join Health and Care Jersey as a Pharmacy Assistant supporting procurement and distribution operations.Full training provided, supportive team, and development opportunities.
The postholder will contribute to the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of pharmacy procurement & distribution services.
Procurement and good in
- Receive and check deliveries of medicines and supplies.
- Support the ordering pharmaceuticals using approved systems.
- Process and reconcile deliveries.
- Manage supplier queries and maintain accurate procurement documentation.
Distribution
- Distribute medicines and supplies to wards and departments.
- Pick, pack, and prepare ward stock and delivery orders.
- Maintain organised stores and ensure stock rotation.
- Conduct stock counts, expiry checks, and support cold‑chain handling.
- Work at off‑site locations as required.
Dispensary (secondary area)
- Assist in assembling and labelling prescriptions.
- Provide front‑of‑house support, including phone handling.
- Replenish stock and maintain a safe dispensary.
Governance & Safety
- Follow all SOPs and safety procedures
- Recognise and escalate risks.
- Participate in audits and quality improvement.
- Training & Support- Complete mandatory training and competencies.
- Support colleagues across pharmacy services.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- GCSE English & Maths; communication; teamwork; willingness to learn.
- Pharmacy/logistics experience; stock system experience; GCSE Science.
Working Conditions
Physical: Lifting boxes, shelving, moving stock.Mental: Concentration for accuracy; interruptions.Environment: Pharmacy, stores, dispensary.
Communication
Works with technicians, pharmacists, suppliers, drivers, staff, and patients.
Training
Full training provided; mandatory modules required.
Limits of Authority
Cannot perform technician-level tasks or release medicines.Must follow supervision.

Person Specification
- GCSE English and Maths
- Ability to follow procedures and work accurately
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and complete training
