Job Overview
Do you have a passion for driving best practice and inspiring professional growth in children’s social care? We are looking for dedicated, forward-thinking Practice Development Leads to join our team in Jersey.
This is a practice leadership role, requiring substantial post-qualification experience in Children’s Social Care and an advanced understanding of relationship-based social work. You will bring significant expertise in complex assessment, safeguarding, and direct work with children, young people, and families, alongside experience of leading practice improvement in challenging and dynamic environments.
In this influential position, you’ll play a key role in strengthening and developing social work practice across the service, embedding relationship-based approaches and the Jersey Children First model. Working closely with Team Managers, Heads of Service, and colleagues in Standards and Quality, you will enhance practice standards, improve outcomes, and ensure the voices of children and families are central to all interventions and planning.
You will use your extensive experience to coach, mentor, and support practitioners and managers, providing reflective supervision, facilitating complex discussions, and modelling high-quality practice. You will lead and deliver workforce development activity, including training, workshops, and programmes, drawing on research, evidence, and best practice to drive continuous improvement.
The role also requires strong analytical and leadership capability, with experience of using quality assurance activity, such as audits, appreciative inquiry, and performance data, to identify themes, inform service improvement, and strengthen outcomes for children and young people. You will contribute to organisational learning, partnership working, and the development of a confident, skilled, and reflective workforce.
If you are an experienced social work professional with the credibility, leadership skills, and practice expertise to influence at a service-wide level, and are committed to developing others and improving outcomes for children, we would love to hear from you.
