Job Purpose

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join the respiratory nurse specialist team in Jersey. The respiratory nurse team provide specialist care, support and expertise for patients with a variety of diagnosed lung conditions (excluding lung cancer).

As a Respiratory Nurse Specialist, you will focus on autonomous assessment, management, review and supportive care of patients living with a respiratory diagnosis including Asthma, COPD, Interstitial Lung Disease and Bronchiectasis. This will include admission avoidance and supporting patients post discharge from hospital.

Applicants will demonstrate extensive respiratory knowledge with appropriate post registration qualifications and excellent communication skills. An understanding of the current drivers in respiratory care nationally to transform services is an essential requirement. Quality improvement is core to the ethos of the service.

The successful applicant will be required to assess patients in a variety of settings. This role works across community, outpatient clinics and in-reach, although this is open to review. The applicant will receive support and professional development.

This provides an opportunity to work with a small, forward-thinking respiratory team, also working closely with the Respiratory Consultant. It provides the opportunity to further develop the inpatient service, with a focus on early supported discharge and integrated care.
