Job Overview
The post holder is required to deliver basic life support training as part of the resuscitation service. The post holder will be responsible for the technical management of the clinical skills lab for all staff groups providing education. The post holder will provide ongoing support with technical aspects of teaching aids, skills trainer manikins and all clinical simulation equipment, and act as a key person in terms of liaison, advice, training and support to end-users.
Job Specific Outcomes 1 of 2
1. Ensure stock levels are maintained to enable smooth running of the department. This includes: clinical skills lab stock, non-stock items, course specific equipment.
2. To set-up and maintain training databases and to input and maintain accurate data held in databases to support the preparation of accurate reporting by the resuscitation service manager.
3. Provide basic life support and first aid training with the supervision of the resuscitation officers.
4. To maintain and set up newly purchased equipment.
5. To carry out/arrange for preventative and scheduled maintenance on all equipment, as well as scheduled checks, and repair/report as appropriate minor and major faults to ensure their safe and efficient use.
6. Prepare and then dismantle training venues in preparation for training and set up the equipment needed for larger courses.
7. Arrange collection/delivery and return of loan equipment from outside agencies.
8. Cleans and maintain training equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and in line with HCS Infection Control Policy.
9. Support technical delivery of clinical skills and simulation programs as dictated by the denary and undergraduate nursing programs.
10. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify/support resources required to facilitate effective delivery of educational/teaching sessions.
11. To complete resuscitation equipment audits in clinical areas to ensure equipment checking compliance in line with the resuscitation policy.
12. To support simulation teaching by troubleshooting both low and high fidelity simulation equipment.
13. To act as primary contact for queries regarding resuscitation equipment in clinical areas such as Defibrillators, suction units and AEDs across all HCS sites.
Qualifications
The post holder must have a good standard of education to a minimum of grade C GCSE standard or equivalent in 5 subjects, one of which must be English Language Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent.
Technical Work Based Skills
Excellent IT Skills, Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office/365 applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook.
General skills / attributes
Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral, are required to communicate with colleagues at all levels. An understanding and appreciation of confidentiality and data protection. The ability think and act independently whilst working to deadlines in a busy environment
