Our Infections Sciences laboratory is seeking a motivated, friendly and enthusiastic individual to provide professional leadership and line management to a Team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff.

 

This post forms part of a small leadership team within a total staff of 23. They will also be required to participate in the day to day operational laboratory work and oversee staff training and competency.

 

The main additional responsibility will be Training Officer. The post is full time in Bacteriology, participation in the weekend and bank holiday rota is required.

 

Lead a team of specialist biomedical scientists and support staff, and oversee training, competency assessment and continuing professional development for the infection sciences laboratories, to guide the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases, protecting the health of islanders.

 

Our UKAS accredited laboratory processes over 120,000 samples per annum and provides a comprehensive service to Health and Community Services; the Jersey Blood Service and island GPs.

 

You must be HCPC registered with experience of working as an autonomous specialist practitioner acquired over approximately six years.

 

With an MSc, Fellowship, IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or equivalent in medical microbiology.  A qualification in Training would be an advantage.
