Job Overview

Les Quennevais School is seeking a dedicated professional to join our exceptional team on a one year contract. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the planning, implementation, and mentoring of special educational programs for both individual students and small groups. This role involves supporting pupils with challenging behaviour to help them achieve their full potential.

 

In addition to educational support, the candidate will serve as the school’s Medical Officer, overseeing first aid requirements for both staff and students. The ideal candidate will ideally be a current First Aider with relevant experience. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for liaising with staff, students, and external agencies. The role also involves coordinating and organizing school-wide vaccinations as well as student careplan implementation and reviews.

Qualifications

Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to Level 3 NVQ level 3 or equivalent in childcare, or diploma in childcare Education at Level 3. Appropriate First Aid qualification.

Knowledge

Child Protection training. Awareness of confidentiality and data protection principles. Full working knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation. Working knowledge fo curriculum and other relevant learning programmes / strategies. Understanding of principles of child development and learning.

Technical Work Based Skills

Training required in at least 2 relevant strategies eg literacy or bilingual, dyslexia, sign language etc

General skills / attributes

Ability to plan effective actions for students who require support to progress their learning or who require specific support to facilitate their accessing of other learning opportunities.

Experience

Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age. Minimum of 3-5 years experience of working with students.
