Job Overview

Highly Specialist Adult Speech and Language Therapist required to join a motivated and enthusiastic small Speech and Language Therapy team in Jersey. The post holder will provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to the rehabilitation ward in Jersey, working as an integral member of the rehabilitation multidisciplinary team and to provide support and mentorship for less experienced Speech and Language Therapists.

 

The rehabilitation unit provides support to a range of patients. The post holder will support service development with the whole rehabilitation team and will provide outreach into the acute and community settings as required. This will include working with a range of patients from those individuals who have experienced a CVA to those with progressive illnesses and severe and complex traumatic brain injury and involve working with them towards their discharge into the community. It will involve working closely with the multidisciplinary team across rehab and community settings supporting the individuals across their rehabilitation journey. The post holder will provide oversight and manage the Speech and Language Therapy input to the Stroke rehabilitation pathway which is being reviewed in Jersey.

 

The post holder will also work with the Memory Assessment Clinic providing detailed Speech and Language Therapy assessments to help provide information for diagnosis of different types of Dementia. Supporting and providing advice for clients and their families with Dementia and wider service development in support of the services these clients will access.

 

Videofluoroscopy skills and experience in carrying out and running FEES clinics desirable.

 

Good knowledge of AAC essential.

 

The applicant needs to be flexible and work across different areas, as small team and need to be able to support with caseloads across a range of individuals from acute medical wards to community settings.
