Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Nurse to join our Jersey Adult Autism Service. This role offers an opportunity to work within a specialist, multidisciplinary team delivering safe, person‑centred, and neuro‑affirming autism diagnostic care for adults.
The post holder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a high‑quality adult autism diagnostic pathway. You will be involved from referral triage and pre‑assessment screening through to post‑diagnostic support, ensuring individuals experience a responsive, respectful, and well‑coordinated assessment journey.
You will contribute to autism diagnostic assessments by gathering relevant clinical and psychosocial information, supporting assessment appointments, contributing observations, and assisting with assessment coordination. You will work directly with autistic adults who may present with complex needs, including co‑existing mental health difficulties, sensory differences, communication needs, and social vulnerability.
A core aspect of the role is service‑user engagement. You will build therapeutic and professional relationships, adapt communication styles to meet individual needs, and help reduce anxiety throughout the diagnostic process. You will also support individuals following assessment, providing information, clarification, and signposting to relevant health, social care, and community resources.
The role includes identifying and responding to risk, including mental health deterioration, self‑neglect, or safeguarding concerns, and escalating issues appropriately in line with professional standards and organisational policy.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and partner agencies such as GPs, mental health services, social care, and third‑sector organisations to support information sharing, continuity of care, and smooth progression through the diagnostic pathway.
Accurate and timely clinical documentation is a key responsibility, ensuring records meet professional, organisational, and service requirements. You will also contribute to team meetings, supervision, audit, and service development activity, supporting ongoing quality improvement within the Adult Autism Service.
We are looking for a nurse who is empathetic, organised, and committed to inclusive, neuro‑affirmative practice, with a genuine interest in supporting autistic adults within a specialist diagnostic service
