We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dedicated Oncology team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse with a minimum of five years' oncology experience, a recognised SACT qualification, and proven leadership skills to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred cancer care within a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

As Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will support the Unit manager in the day-to-day operational management of the Oncology Department. You will act as a clinical role model, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and service delivery are maintained.

The successful candidate will provide professional leadership, support staff development, coordinate clinical activities, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of oncology services. You will work closely with consultants, allied health professionals, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive exceptional care throughout their cancer treatment journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and operational support within the Oncology Department.
  • Coordinate and manage the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.
  • Act as nurse in charge when required.
  • Support staff supervision, performance management, and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies, clinical standards, and governance requirements.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and quality assurance activities.
  • Support the induction, mentoring, and training of new and existing staff.
  • Promote a positive patient experience and uphold the values of Health and Care Jersey.

Essential Criteria

  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
  • Minimum of 5 years' post-registration experience in Oncology Nursing.
  • SACT administration qualification.
  • Competency in CVAD management
  • Demonstrable management and leadership experience within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience coordinating teams and managing clinical workloads.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Criteria

  • Leadership or management qualification.
  • Experience in service development, audit, or quality improvement.
  • Teaching, mentorship, or practice assessor qualification.
  • Proficiency in CVAD insertion
