Job Overview

Are you an experienced operational leader with a passion for improving patient flow, managing complex healthcare operations and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of services? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where no two days are the same and where your leadership can make a direct impact on patient care and hospital performance?
Health and Care Jersey are seeking an exceptional Site Operations Manager to join our Operations team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a dynamic, resilient and highly motivated individual who is experienced in managing operational flow within an acute healthcare setting. Working closely with the Head of Operational Resilience, Care Group General Managers, Lead Nurses, clinical teams and system partners, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management of patient flow, bed capacity and operational performance across the hospital. You will provide visible leadership across a 24-hour service, supporting the delivery of safe, efficient and patient-centred care while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
This is a highly influential role with responsibility for leading the Site Operations Team, coordinating operational flow across the hospital, implementing escalation and surge plans when required, and supporting organisational resilience during periods of increased demand and major incidents. The post holder will also participate in the Senior Manager On-Call rota, providing tactical leadership for Health and Care Jersey out of hours.

Main duties of the job

As Site Operations Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operational management of patient flow across the acute hospital, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with organisational standards. You will oversee hospital capacity and bed management, balancing the demands of non-elective and elective activity while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety and patient experience.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will be responsible for leading operational flow meetings, coordinating responses to operational pressures, and ensuring appropriate escalation processes are enacted when required. You will provide leadership and management to the Site Operations Team, including Bed Managers and Clinical Coordinators, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maintain effective patient pathways across the healthcare system.
The role will support the development and delivery of demand and capacity plans, seasonal resilience programmes, site and bed management strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives such as the Golden Patient Initiative and SAFER Care Bundle. You will also contribute to financial management, governance, performance reporting and operational resilience planning, providing expert advice and assurance to senior leaders and executive colleagues.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operational manager who is passionate about delivering high-quality healthcare services, leading teams through change, and ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity, please contact the James Basilio-Mason, Head of Operational Resilience.
