Job Purpose

The A&MI Analyst provides timely, accurate, high quality and robust analysis which informs decision making and service improvements. They enable, promote, and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge, and technology to support and improve service delivery.


This role will be supporting the Treasury and Exchequer Department. The post-holder is expected to have or to develop working knowledge of the business area.

Statutory Responsibilities

This role is politically restricted. The job holder is not permitted to undertake political activity involving standing for election to the States or as a Parish Constable, or publicly supporting someone who is standing for election or playing a public part in any political manner.


Job Specific Outcomes

  1. Continuous Improvement Support: Assisting in implementing improvement initiatives to enhance data collection processes and reporting accuracy under supervision.
  2. Collaboration Assistance: Supporting cross-functional collaboration efforts with Finance Business Partners and teams to ensure consistency in reporting across departments.
  3. Performance Metrics Assistance: Assisting in tracking and adjusting key performance indicators (KPIs) with guidance to monitor data collection, analysis, and reporting effectiveness.
  4. Technology Utilization Support: Supporting the evaluation and basic implementation of new technologies to streamline data processes under guidance from senior staff.
  5. Personal Development Support: Participating in personal development initiatives, such as training sessions and skill-building activities, to enhance proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  6. Risk Identification Support: Assisting in identifying potential risks associated with data processes under supervision and learning to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  7. Quality Assurance Support: Assisting in quality assurance measures to validate data accuracy and reliability with guidance from senior staff.
  8. Client Feedback Assistance: Assisting in gathering and analysing client feedback to make adjustments in reporting formats and content under supervision.
  9. Compliance Awareness: Learning about regulatory requirements and supporting compliance monitoring efforts under guidance from senior staff.
  10. Project Support: Assisting in data-related projects by providing support in tasks such as data collection, analysis, and reporting, while learning project management principles from senior staff.


Essential: Degree level education with a numerical component or proven analysis skills from work experience.

Desirable: Basic understanding of organizational and political processes, familiarity with public sector operations.


Essential: Basic understanding of information flows, data mining, and research methods. Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods, basic knowledge of business intelligence and analytical techniques. Understanding of how data and analysis contribute to service performance improvement.

Desirable: Familiarity with public sector services and stakeholder needs.

Technical Work Based Skills

Essential: Basic data analysis skills, ability to present analysis effectively, knowledge of Microsoft Office, willingness to learn industry-standard report writing tools, basic understanding of project management principles.

General skills / attributes

Essential: Customer focus, effective communication, willingness to learn and adapt, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, collaborative attitude, ability to handle basic challenging situations, professionalism. Eagerness to learn new business intelligence reporting programs/software.


Essential: Experience with basic data analysis and handling changing priorities.

Desirable: Exposure to public sector or relevant business area operations (e.g., Finance, Accountancy, etc.).
