The Data Quality Analyst assesses Government of Jersey’s data assets for data quality and ensures continual improvement routines are implemented, measured and updated to assists in master data management of the Government’s Corporate Datasets.

Job Purpose

 

The Data Quality Analyst is responsible for the monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement of quality across core data assets in their functional area and, working as part of the Master Data Management team, for the development and implementation of the data quality framework that supports these outcomes and the maintenance and further development of the data solutions. The core data assets and datasets include the SAP solution (Connect), People Directory and Jersey Land and Property Index.

Job Specific Outcomes

 

  • Creation and maintenance of key Master Datasets, including Suppliers, Customers, and Enterprise Structures as requested by the business.
  • Work as part of the Master Data Management team to develop and maintain data quality policies, processes and methods in order to facilitate the handling of organisation's data in a robust and standardised way across the entire organisation and monitor the integrity of Master Data in their Functional area(s) and resolve discrepancies when required.
  • Develop relationships with key business colleagues to build improvements to the Master Data Management processes to ensure the organisation has access to timely and accurate core data.
  • Advise on activities intended to assure and improve the organisation's data quality to facilitate confidence in its, timeliness, validity and reliability to support policy making and effective operations and provide appropriate training and support to data owners and data users in their Functional area(s).
  • Conduct regular Service Reviews with Data Owners. Take ownership of Service Requests for Master Data updates, ensuring they are managed, prioritised and completed to agreed Service Levels and undertake routine system maintenance and support in accordance with the application processing timetable.
  • Assist with the management of User Access to Master Datasets by creating new users and maintaining roles as requested by the business.
  • Analyse problems reported by customers, identify issues, propose potential solutions and ensure customers are kept up to date as required.
  • Maintain system support documentation.
  • Create bespoke and routine data extracts to provide business intelligence and support operations.

Qualifications

 

Educated to degree in a subject with a high degree of analytical or numerical content, or demonstrate such a level of equivalent qualifications and experience.

Knowledge

 

  • Knowledge of data management, risk management, analytics and data quality practices.
  • Knowledge of information system development and master data management discipline.

 

Technical Work Based Skills

 

Strong data handling and analysis techniques to evaluate information from multiple sources.

General skills / attributes

 

  • Excellent customer service skills to build effective and trusting relationships.
  • Ability to work to a high level of accuracy whilst working to tight deadlines.
  • Able to become proficient in support and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to independently prioritise conflicting workloads.

Experience

 

At least three years' experience of Master Data Management within a large organisation.
