Job Overview

The ICU in Jersey is a 7 bedded unit, caring for both adults and paediatrics with a variety of clinical conditions and pathology. The ICU team have a close working relationship with the South West Critical Care Network (SWCCN) and follow Guidelines for the Provision of Intensive Care Services (GPICS v2.1). We are also connected to the Thames Valley and Wessex Critical Care Network for training opportunities and work closely with the Southampton and Oxford Retrieval Team (SORT) for any complex level 3 paediatric transfers to a tertiary centre on the mainland. Training and education are critical for our remote DGH and we have a full-time dedicated Practice Development Nurse attached to the unit. A programme in Adult Critical Care is available at level 6 or 7 and foundation courses in Adult and Paediatric critical care are open to any suitable candidate. The senior team support a flexible working pattern and promote a self-roster system for staff requesting shifts. The successful candidate is expected to enrol on the Jersey Emergency Transfer Service (JETS) study day to be able to transfer patients to the UK by air ambulance. Jersey is a small island off the north coast of France which offers successful candidates an opportunity to experience island life in a warmer climate whilst still maintaining links with the UK. Job Purpose

This role operates across a range of clinical areas within the acute and community services. You will plan and deliver an effective and competent level of care, be fully aware of the needs of the patients and drive the standard in patient care.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across other department to ensure the continuity in patient care, acting as a role model for colleauges, patients and relatives. Supervise the care given by Healthcare Assistants and provide guidance and training as appropriate.

Qualifications

1st Level Registered Nurse with NMC Registration

Knowledge

2 Years Post qualification experience working across general nursing.

Thorough knowledge of NMC Code (2015)
