Job Overview

We are recruiting Sessional Youth Workers, who can support us in delivering an enriched offer to young people across our Youth Clubs and Projects. Ideally, candidates will have experience of working with young people in either Youth Work or a similar discipline. Successful applicants are required to complete Jersey Youth Services’ ‘Essentials’ training.

PLEASE NOTE: The 5 year residency is not a requirement for this role. Interviews for this role are likely to be held in the 3rd week of each month.

Job Accountabilities

  • To work in line with the Youth Service Promise for young people.  
  • To support the Youth Worker in charge of the project to facilitate both formal and informal learning opportunities/sessions for young people.
  • To set up and prepare for the opening of youth club/ project sessions.
  • To close, cash up and clean at the end of sessions.  
  • To work in collaboration with colleagues on an Island-wide basis.

Experience Requirements

Sound experience of working face to face with young people in a Youth Club or Project setting.

• Enthusiasm, stamina, and a willingness to work unsociable hours when necessary.
• Build positive relationships with young people.
•  Ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people who attend the youth club sessions. 
• Commitment to motivate and inspire disaffected young people to achieve their potential.
• Experience of working with various groups of young people.
• Commitment to Equal Opportunities Legislation and an understanding of and commitment to work within the principles of diversity.
• Willingness to undertake on–going training.
• The ability to work on own initiative, with the minimum of supervision within a busy environment.
• Effective time management skills.
 
 
Desirable
• Experience of dealing with a range of issues facing young people from a variety of backgrounds.
• A minibus + trailer (D1+E) license or willingness to complete an appropriate minibus driver qualification.
