Job Purpose
The coordinator for staff development will contribute to the effective operations of the Teaching, Learning and Staff Development area to support the delivery of the College’s strategic plan through the provision of the structured development programmes for all college staff. The post holder will work closely with the Department Director to make best use of available resources to promote best practice and advance the skills levels of all our staff, in a culture that invites challenge, inspires high expectations and celebrates difference, in order to enhance the experience of all our students.
Job Specific Outcomes 1 of 2
• To work with the department director to coordinate the forward planning and development of the college’s CPD plan and staff development activities for new and existing staff. This will include the coordination of the performance review and appraisal process including training, coordinating completion, review, quality assurance and then action outcomes to inform the college’s staff development plan.
• To work with the department director in the coordination of the lesson observation scheme, setting up observation timetables, collating outcomes and monitoring the completion of the lesson observation cycle.
• Liaise with the college’s HR function to support the joiners and leavers process within the college enabling all staff to attend programmed induction courses and briefings as required. Contribute to the production and maintenance of staff handbooks including induction, staff, managers, teaching, learning and assessment.
• To plan and deliver (where appropriate) bespoke staff development activities/events for all college staff. This includes liaising with external training providers, making travel, accommodation and subsistence arrangements for all college staff attending training courses, conferences and meetings both on and outside of the island. Initiate the invoice procedure where applicable in order to recover the costs involved.
• Work with the coordinator for Education and Training Programmes assessment and verification programmes delivered within the defined area to ensure their effective delivery including recruitment, enrolment, ongoing monitoring of and coordination of quality assurance processes such as auditing, meetings, reporting and liaison with external bodies as required.

• Maintain the budget records in relation to the directorate area ensuring all incoming and outgoing payments are processed in a timely manner to ensure up to date reporting can be carried out regularly.
• Maintain confidential staff records relating to all training and development activities whilst at all times ensuring that the outcomes are correctly recorded and readily available for reporting. Act as first point of contact for meetings with directorate area – receiving telephone calls, manage the directorate diary, answer routine enquiries, produce agendas and make all necessary arrangements for meetings (Collating and preparing the necessary background papers etc.) and ensuring that all the required supporting information is available.
• Compose and type memos, letters, agendas, minutes, circulars, and reports to a high standard of accuracy and consistency. As directed by the department director, ensure that all other administrative processes necessary for the smooth running of the department (ordering stationary, equipment maintenance etc.) are properly administered. Undertake general clerical duties including filing, photocopying, sending faxes etc.
• To undertake any other general tasks for the good and benefit of the college its students and staff, as directed by the departmental director which are relevant to the role, grade and experience of post holder.
Qualifications

Educated to A level or level 3 vocational qualification or similar
Desirable
Be training in learning and development or be prepared and capable of undertaking the necessary qualifications e.g. CIPD Level 3 in L&D
Initial teacher training qualification or be prepared and capable of undertaking the necessary qualification e.g. AET in order to deliver staff training
