We are looking for a KS2 teacher (experienced or ECT) who has the ability, enthusiasm, and desire to be an outstanding teacher in our school. This position is full time and fixed term for one year commencing September 2025.

Job Purpose

Job Context

First Tower School welcomes teachers of a high professional standard, who have high expectations of attainment and behaviour. The school shares the responsibility with each teacher for continual review and the development of expertise. All teachers make a valuable contribution to the school’s development and, therefore, to the progress of all pupils.

Job Specific Outcomes 1 of 2

  • Be responsible for the quality of teaching and learning of all pupils who are assigned to the post-holder, including planning, teaching and assessing work in line with school policies and procedures.

 

  • Actively support the vision, values and ethos of the school in relationships with children, colleagues and parents, both in class and around the school.

 

  • Be aware of and implement the school’s Child Protection/Safeguarding policies and procedures.

 

  • Identify clear T&L objectives, content, lesson structures and sequence appropriate to the curriculum area, the age and ability of the pupils being taught.

 

  • Set appropriate and demanding expectations for pupils’ learning and motivation. To set clear targets for pupils’ learning and progress, building on prior attainment.

 

  • Identify pupils who have special needs and give pupils positive and targeted support. To work closely with the SENDCo and visiting professionals.  To create, implement and monitor individual provision maps for vulnerable and/or SEND pupils.

 

  • Have detailed knowledge of the relevant aspects of the Jersey Curriculum.

 

  • Use teaching methods which keep pupils engaged, including stimulating pupils’ intellectual curiosity, effective questioning and response, clear presentation and appropriate use of resources.

 

  • Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour following the school Behaviour Policy and procedures. Establish and maintain a high standard of discipline through well-focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships.

  • Share a corporate responsibility for the well-being and behaviour of all pupils in the school.

 

  • Mark and monitor pupils’ class and homework providing constructive oral and written feedback, giving clear targets for pupil progress and improvement following school policies.

 

  • Assess pupils’ progress and evaluate their achievement with reference to the school’s assessment procedures and criteria. Establish effective working relationships delegating tasks and supervising the work of any support staff, including higher level teaching assistants, support teachers, and teaching assistants who are assigned to work with the post holder’s pupils/class.

 

  • Take part in extra-curricular activities and PTA events.

 

  • Provide leadership* across the school in a designated subject, curriculum area or school initiative this to include.

 

  • monitoring quality and standards within the subject

 

  • contributing to the School Plan and to the School Evaluation Form (SEF)

 

  • providing professional support to other teachers and support staff about the subject assigned to the post-holder.

 

  • advising the Head teacher on appropriate resources and materials which will help to improve T&L within the assigned subject as well as whole school progress

 

  • leading appropriate professional development for other staff across the school.
