An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Spanish and French to join our team at Jersey College for Girls in September 2025
It is essential that candidate applying for this role can teach Spanish to A level and French to Key stage 3 and ideally GCSE.
As a Teacher of Spanish and French, you will be an outstanding practitioner with a genuine interest and passion for your subject and the latest educational research. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and inspirational teacher to join our successful Modern Foreign Languages Faculty. This could also be an ideal post for someone looking to move into middle leadership as a Head of Department.

Principal Accountabilities
- Teach Spanish across all key stages 3, 4 and 5 and French to KS3 and possibly KS4 to achieve the highest academic standards and learning opportunities.
- Assist in the creation and review of appropriate documentation such as schemes of learning and policies.
- Plan effectively to ensure that all individual student learning needs are met.
- Advise the Head of Faculty on issues relating to the learning and teaching of your subjects to ensure effective resource management.
- Follow departmental policy for effective monitoring, marking and tracking of student progress and use assessment data to ensure all students have individual targets and are supported in all areas of their work.
- Ensure learning and teaching programmes take account of the latest developments in education and evaluate their impact upon teaching and learning, ensuring that appropriate use is made of up-to-date technology.
- Attend and contribute to relevant departmental meetings and take an appropriate share of the administrative duties of the department.
- Assist in developing curriculum links with universities and other organisations to promote Modern Languages within the College.
- Undertake regular reviews of teaching practice and accompanying documentation as determined by the evaluation process of the school and departments.
- Contribute to a full programme of extra-curricular opportunities.
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensure the profile of your subjects is raised both within the College and the wider community through networking, frequent media releases and internal announcements as directed by the Heads of Faculty.
- Contribute to parents’ meetings, the mentoring programme, staff teams, and reports and references for students as appropriate.
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to both on and off site.
- Be willing to undertake appropriate professional development and training as needed to keep at the leading edge of learning and teaching. E.g. subject developments and new qualifications or specifications.
- Undertake any other task as may be reasonably requested by the Principal.

Person Specification
An ideal candidate for this post will have:
- A passion for Spanish and French.
- Experience of teaching Spanish and French at secondary level.
- Strong interpersonal skills which display high levels of sensitivity, tact and diplomacy in dealing with difficult situations
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- An ability to take responsibility and a proactive approach to problem solving
Person Specification
- A keen interest in supporting student learning
- The ability to work collaboratively, to model good practice and maintain high levels of confidentiality
- Experience in actively supporting students in the completion of their work
- The ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines
- An ability to be able to demonstrate a strong understanding and commitment to the aims and ethos of the Faculty and Jersey College for Girls
