Job Overview

Mont à l'Abbé School wishes to recruit two Specialist Learning Support Assistants to work proactively with a learner who is Autistic, has complex learning needs and experiences high levels of anxiety.

The successful candidates will understand the importance of developing safe, trusting and consistent relationships and be committed to working in a systemic, relational and trauma-informed way.

You will have experience of supporting learners with additional needs, an understanding that behaviour is a form of communication, and a commitment to seeing the strengths and potential in every child.

The role requires patience, curiosity, emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm and supportive during times when the learner may become distressed or dysregulated. At times, this distress may present through behaviours that can be physically challenging, and staff will be supported through training, supervision and a collaborative team approach.

A CACHE/NVQ Level 3 qualification in Teaching and Learning, or equivalent accredited qualification, is essential. Relevant experience supporting learners with complex needs, anxiety and behaviours that challenge would be desirable.

This position is graded at ESSF07 and working 31 hours per week, term time only.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
