About Us

Our Cellular Pathology Department plays a vital role in the diagnosis of disease, providing a high-quality service to clinicians and patients. We are now seeking a motivated and ambitious Trainee Biomedical Scientist to join our dedicated team.

 

The Role

As a Trainee Biomedical Scientist in Cellular Pathology, you will receive comprehensive training and support to develop your skills and knowledge in histopathology, non-gynae cytology, and related techniques. This role provides a unique opportunity to work in a busy laboratory while working towards Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.

You will work under the supervision of senior Biomedical Scientists and will gain experience in:

 - Preparing, processing, and embedding tissue samples.

 - Sectioning, staining, and immunohistochemistry techniques.

 - Assisting with non-gynae cytology specimen preparation.

 - Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety standards.

 - Contributing to audits and maintenance of the laboratory’s ISO 15189 accredited status.

 

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who is eager to build a career in biomedical science.

 - A degree in Biomedical Science (accredited by the IBMS) or working towards completion.

 - Excellent communication and organisational skills.

 - Ability to work accurately with attention to detail.

 - Commitment to professional development and training.

 - A collaborative approach to working within a team.
