Job Overview

We are looking for a ward clerk/administrator to join our busy team. The successful candidate will be reliable and hardworking  supporting the ward team with their administrative and welcoming reception duties. The post holder will have excellent communication skills to be able engage with our service users and their carers/visitors, plus liaise with other departments within Health and Community Services. The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact for patients, friends and relatives as well as professional visitors. The post holder would need to be confident and experienced in dealing with the public in a compassionate, calm and effective manner.

 

A Ward Clerk is the first point of contact on a hospital ward for patients, families, and staff. They provide essential administrative support that helps the clinical team focus on patient care. The role requires strong organisation, communication, and attention to detail. 

A ward cannot run smoothly without good administrative support.  This role is essential to: 

  • Keep patient information accurate
  • Improve communication and workflow
  • Support staff efficiency
  • Enhance patient experience by being a friendly, organised point of contact

They are often the “organisational backbone” of a ward.
