The appointment of Executive leaders and board members across the government and Jersey Public Service has a major impact on the successful delivery of policy and services across the Island and consequently it's vitally important that we engage and appoint the best possible candidates. Many of the appointments at this level will have the oversight of the Jersey Appointments Commission which will ensure that the selection is fair, efficient and conducted in accordance with best practice and procedure.

Official Analyst

Salary: Competitive

Location: Official Analyst’s Department, St Helier, Jersey

This is a key role, with a critical part to play in the overall operational performance and effectiveness of the Official Analyst’s Department, to ensure compliance with both statutory and non-statutory functions and duties.

As the Official Analyst, you will provide chemical and microbiological analysis services covering a variety of samples and exhibits, provided by government departments, uniformed services, local businesses and members of the public. You will be responsible for directing the analysis, providing impartial scientific interpretation of results and acting as an expert witness when results are used in court proceedings.

You will actively participate in the Senior Leadership of the Jersey Public Service, as well as managing the staff and budgets within the Department. 

Upholding the highest standards of scientific research, as well as maintaining public trust and confidence in the independence of the functions of the office is crucial.

The statutory functions of the Official Analyst are specified in the Official Analyst (Jersey) Law 2022 and other enactments.
