Job Overview

Oversee the day-to-day operational running of a busy centralised laundry department, servicing healthcare and non-healthcare organisations.

Budgetary Responsibility

Daily budgetary responsibilities for staff and non staffing aspects relating to the operational running of the central laundry 

Job Specific Outcomes 1 of 2

  

  1. Undertake all aspects of recruitment, retention, rostering, annual leave, and absence monitoring, including conducting return to work interviews and adherence to the managing attendance policies and procedures.

 

 

  1. Provide and review analytical data to ensure the central laundry runs efficiently.

 

 

  1. Initiate statutory and mandatory training online and in-house training on laundry equipment for all staff, ensuring staff adhere to safe working practices, in accordance with SOP’s and Government policies.

 

 

  1. Write in conjunction with the H&S team and the laundry chargehands all SOP’s, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, BCP’s and internal policies required to run a safe and efficient laundry distribution service.

 

 

  1. Assist in collaboration with the engineering department in the tendering and procurement process for all laundry equipment replacement.

  1. Procure all laundry consumables, services, and linen as required, adhering to the public finance manual, and guaranteeing quality standards and best value are maintained.

 

 

  1. Provide monthly recharge figures on system templates for all income generating activities.

 

 

  1. Report equipment failure and work in conjunction with the onsite engineering team, adhering to preventive maintenance schedules, and supplier service contracts to minimise equipment downtime and business disruption.

 

 

  1. Work closely with the other services leads in portering, stores and domestics to facilitate an efficient logistics and distribution service.

Highly driven individual with a proven track record of leading teams

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Qualifications

Educated to GCSE level

Knowledge

 Knowledge of laundry operations and equipment desirable

Technical Work Based Skills

 A clean a driving licence is essential

General skills / attributes

A high standard of education

 

Good communication skills are essential

Experience

Previous experience in a Laundry environment is desirable 

 

Previous experience is a management or supervisory role would be beneficial
